A couple of days ago I was enjoying a few minutes of relaxation along the Puget Sound. I took this picture into the water...

Taking A Book Break
On my way to Seattle yesterday we were stopped about 12 miles south of Tacoma for almost an hour because of excessive train traffic. I decided to grab my book, step outside, and hang out on a rock and read for awhile. It was a beautiful day and the temperature was perfect. As you can see the water was as smooth as glass...
Here is a picture of my train along the Puget Sound... We get into areas that most people don't get to access because there are no roads into these places. Not a bad view from the office I would say.

Sometimes we just say "Thank You Lord"
A few months back I shared with you a story of hope. It was about a young girl in Uganda who was taking care of her two siblings. In spite of minimal food and water she showed her brother and sister an amazing amount of love and care. The story was a video of Sam and Esther. (See posting)
After learning about this story I shared that the ministry involved had a need... A new van. And I know several of you contributed to that van project that was spur-headed by Milan Ford
Well, here is a picture of the new van that they purchased back in March. There is a story that goes along with this unfortunate situation. This story ends with a miracle. I encourage you to take the time to read the story and pray for the people involved.

Sunset on the gorge
I was driving home from Hermiston Saturday night and got this shot from the back of the crew hauler... turned out kind of nice.

The Power Of Calvary
While running in Hermiston this afternoon I ran into this cross that has been recently placed on one of the highest points of the Hermiston flatlands. It was a nice reminder to me that God is preeminent in the lives of so many. I pray that if you don't know Jesus that He will make himself known to you and you will receive Him today.

A Curious Llama
My train broke this evening and I am on my way to the problem. As I am walking I spied this curious neighbor.
Well, back to work! It is getting dark and I am in big foot country... I hope he is elsewhere :)
(update)
Four hours later I got the problem fixed enough to pull the rail car 5 miles to Hood River. Once we arrived there the mechanical forces took over and torch cut some brackets and welded it together... If I had a portable welder I could have done that.
Here is a picture of the sky getting dark... The sun is setting and I don't have any light source so I need to go back to the locomotives and get my supplies. I gets dark at night.
The broken pipe bracket... The thing is supposed to be centered on the bracket but it got wedged to the side. Metal like this doesn't move very easily. Since it was wedged it separated the air lines that connect the train cars air brakes. Once the air goes we can't move... I had to straighten the pipe so I could reconnect the hoses and move the car to a place where mechanical forces could take over and give it a temporary fix.
I definitely earned my money today!
What an inconvenience
Last night I went mtn biking on Mt Tabor. I love riding my bike through the trails at night. It is dark, quiet, and quite the rush. Unfortunately, last night I picked up an unwanted companion... a piece of glass. My ride turned into a 2 mile run home. Oh, well... it was still fun. Next time I will carry my patch kit!

TKD night
Hanging out at Taekwondo with. Grayson tonight. Makes me want to sing the song... "everybody was kung-fu fighting... that boy was fast as lightning..."

Another sunrise
It seems that I see a lot of these working for the railroad. Here is the Columbia River Gorge this morning...

Willamette River from Sellwood Bridge
While riding my bike this evening I just had to stop and take a picture of the river. You could say I got just a bit wet!
