The Joy of Getting Old

Some people may laugh, others cry, and some just try to live as if it doesn't exist. Age! No matter how quickly we try to run from it we can never elude it. I umpired a baseball game on Saturday, practiced with a couple of kids on Sunday with the farm baseball team, and then worked Sunday night and Monday.

When I got home and stepped up my front stair my back decided it was time for me to stop walking for a little while. I could hardly walk, so today I visited my friendly Chiropractor. He heat treated by back and cracked me back into position. Probably some kind of muscle strain.

I was never a big fan of Chiropractics until one day I picked up a napkin and tweaked my back so bad I could hardly move. After a couple of adjustments I was better.

Since my appointment this afternoon I feel back to about 60%... sure beats not being able to put on my own socks...

Another Funny Video

I came across another video that Nathan made. I have never seen this one. Incredibly funny.

Missed one...

Ok, so I missed a post yesterday. Sorry for that. I have been working every day and it has been quite hectic. I actually thought about it last night around 12:30 but it had already ticked into the new day so I would have had to back date it anyway.

I haven't taken any new pictures for a couple of days so all I have is this. It is a picture of a peanut. Honey roasted and on sale at Safeway for $2.50 per jar with the club card.

Off to work. I am hauling a garbage train from Seattle to Portland this afternoon.

Have a good day.

The Five Virtues

I went for a run on Friday afternoon and as I was going through the field of a local school here in Sea-Tac I noticed this painting on the wall. My first thought was that I was pleased that it hadn't been tagged with graffiti yet. I ran past it and read all of the words on it and then decided to go back and take a picture because something struck me.

In a world so filled with sin and immorality is was nice to see a message that encouraged virtuous behavior. We live in an "MTV / Real World" generation filled with sex, violence, and rude behavior. It is a breath of fresh air to see images around our kids that are more positive.

I posted back in September a picture of a sign I saw on a neighboring school to this one. It said "GUN FREE ZONE." Definately a contrast to this wall mural.
  • Caring
  • Honesty
  • Responsibility
  • Respect
  • Faith
May we all walk through life remembering these virtues.

Gladiators vs. Skeleton Pirates

I was going through the camera and ran into some pictures of an intense battle that must have occurred in Grayson's bedroom when I wasn't looking. It appears that the gladiators are fighting the skeleton pirates and both sides are well armed.

I think the gladiator's win. Time for a feast!

Can't forget the tulips

Last year I took a picture every day for the entire month of April of the tulips in our yard. And just like last year and the previous years... they are as beautiful as ever.

Here are a few pictures... Happy Spring!

A Lovely Spring Day

Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain. Another wet and cold spring day. It hasn't rained this hard since... well, last week!

You've gotta love Portland weather.

We went to church this morning and then came home and had lunch. I thought I was going to be going to work but since the economy has slowed down so has my work schedule and we had a free day together. We went to Easthill for an Easter program and then came home to just enjoy hanging out.

While I was reading I looked outside and saw such an amazing burst of showers. It is nice to be in a warm and dry home while the elements outside are so daunting.

The Season Has Begun

The season started early this year because we are playing other teams from around the city and they begin there season the first week of April. Kind of unusual for our league and a bit hectic trying to get it all organized. I have been recruiting umpires for the past week and didn't even have the final schedule until Friday the 3rd... Hard to get an ump when you don't even know when the games are going to be.

Well, anyway... Saturday was a beautiful day for a baseball game and here are a couple of pictures of Grayson. He k'd his first at bat, singled his second and walked his third. He had three stolen bases and he scored both times he was on base. And to top the game off, he was brought in from SS to relief pitch in the bottom of the last inning with bases loaded, one out, and the game up by two. Unfortunately he pitched strikes and they got hit to the outfielders who where playing just a bit too deep... We lost 7-6.

Pretty good opener for a young first year major if you ask me... But I might be a bit bias.

Pretty good shot of the ump too...well, half the ump anyway!
