A Light Unto My Path
I was out running this evening in SeaTac and as I ran down this path something struck me. I had to stop and take a picture. The more I ran the more I began to think about the picture I took and the thought came to my mind, "why?"
Well, this week has been an interesting week for me. I felt a bit in a funk a couple of times and as I was running I began to reflect on some things about the week. So bear with me as I share a couple of thoughts.
Earlier in the week I had a mental picture during one particular moment. I was sitting on a rock in the middle of the forest. Now this was a pretty good sized rock and the place I was sitting was high in altitude. I looked around and all I could see was a curtain of fir trees blocking my views. In and amongst the trees were numerous pathways leading here and there, but I felt no sense of which one I should take. As I looked around I heard a quiet voice say, "look up."
So I looked up. There was a clearing up in the trees. As I looked up I saw a star. I questioned what the star might be there for and then I felt a fleeting thought go through my mind. It was about the three wise men who followed the star to see Jesus. I ran through the scriptures in my mind for a matter of seconds and read the story mentally about the star guiding them through to the Holy One. But one thing in particular was impressed on my mind.
Though the story in the Bible takes a matter of minutes to read, the journey was just that, a journey.
And as I sat on that rock, metaphorically, I began to realize that all I needed to do to get out of the funk I was in was to look up and follow Him. And to be reassured that the struggles I go through are momentary and the place He is leading me to is a real blessing. And also, remember, it is going to be a journey, so be patient and stay looking at the Star.
So all that from a picture of a jogging path that has a couple of lights around the perimeter... Yep.
Psa 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Dinner At Red Robin
A shot of lady liberty at the local Red Robin burger joint this evening. I thought it was appropriate since we are in the middle of the biggest corporate bail out in the history of earth. It is kind of like the restaurant is thinking, "Hey, as long as the government will bail us out we are free to do whatever we desire with all of the money we make"
Thank God that US has a good credit line with China... I hope we can get through this soon, I was actually thinking of starting a savings account in the near future. Maybe next year :)

Another long day!
I was getting ready to go to bed this evening and saw Lori fast asleep on the couch. She had just finished watching Nanny 911 and I guess it wore her out.

A Day At The Beach
The weather was perfect and the day went by very well. I decided to take pictures of my day.
This first one is of the truck loaded down with some of the materials needed to build the deck.
This second one is a picture of our first stop of the day.
And finally a picture of the new deck. Not bad for 5 1/2 hours of work. This weekend we are going to go back and finish the rails...
Have a great day!

My 60's Chick
The dress is thigh high and she has a black pair of go-go boots to go with it... You will see that picture when we are dressed together and ready to party.
Can't wait for the fun.

What Has It Come To.
I went for a late night run and I came across this sign posted in the window of a local middle school in Sea-Tac. I was kind of amazed that on all of the windows of this brand new school such a sign needs to be posted.
Where are we going as a society when middle schools have to post a sign that says "GUN-FREE ZONE" on the building?

Shaved Sammy!
We had Samson groomed this weekend. He always looks a couple of years younger when he gets a haircut. I wish that would work for me... Whenever I get my hair cut I look bald and grey.

BFF (Best Friends Forever)
Today we had the Taekwondo picnic at Blue Lake Park. It was an awesome day and we had a really good time playing, eating, and enjoying the beautiful weather.
This is Anna. She and Grayson spent the entire day running around with each other and had a wonderful time hanging out together. They enjoy being with each other at class as well. A really fun time with them is when we are at TKD class and the two of them spar each other. She is a red belt, which is a belt level higher than his, so she is a real competitor. Everything I've ever taught him about not fighting with girls goes right out the window with her... she whoops him pretty good. But when the match is over they always shake hands and bow to one another with the utmost admiration and respect.
It is neat to know that Grayson and the other children in his class are building solid friendships and learning a lifelong skill at the same time.
These are the tenants he is learning to live by:
- COURTESY
- INTEGRITY
- PERSEVERENCE
- SELF-CONTROL
- INDOMITABLE SPIRIT

Hang On!
Looks like a good time. While I am out of town hanging out in a hotel room my son is learning the fine art of motorcycle riding. Sit down, shut up, and hang on!
Happy Labor Day to all who didn't labor...
